For years, the Winston-Salem Police Department had several locations throughout the city for storing evidence. When a certain piece of evidence was needed, the process to gather it was very cumbersome and time consuming. With the purchase of an old Thomasville Furniture warehouse near downtown, the police department was able to consolidate all of their evidence and other storage needs under one roof. Six Spacesaver mobile shelving systems were installed in multiple areas of the facility including: DNA storage, Non-DNA storage, Gun Storage, Drug Vault, and File storage. The result is a consolidated solution that provides secure, efficient, and effective storage. These mobile systems provide ample room to store all the different types of “stuff” they have now and also allow for plenty of room to grow.
So what happens if all of these mobile systems get full? During our tour Pat Burke, Evidence Management Supervisor for the Winston-Salem PD, pointed out that plans have already been drawn up for new storage systems and showed us the areas where they could go. “But for now, we have more than enough storage to meet our needs.” Pat said. “We feel secure knowing that our future storage needs have been addressed, and we won’t have to worry about storage space for a very long time.”

In the world of storage, everything changes – people, equipment and the stuff you need to store. The Freestyle Personal Locker System lets you make changes as you go, so you can keep up with all of the changes around you. Freestyle is an all-new design with an all new philosophy: let the locker conform to the demands of the user. Start with the sizes that fit your space, configurations that meet your demands, and add accessories (from a robust and flexible menu) to adapt the lockers and reach your storage goals. This is the only on-site, end-user configurable locker of its kind. So go ahead, make it your own – it just could be the last locker system you’ll ever need.

Yep – it’s that time of year. Time to get organized. And what is the preeminent evil to befall one’s desire to become organized? Yes, of course…it is misplaced car keys. Some blame it on forgetfulness, others on malcontents and still others on car key gnomes. The bottom line is this: to be organized is to know where your car keys are – otherwise you would never get anywhere in life. Of course, you may argue that you could walk, ride a bike, or even take public transit, and you would be right. But if that were the case, we never would have had a good reason to make this P2ube webisode.

Welcome to our first exploration of "Unusual Stuff".
When you are in the stuff storage business, you end up storing a lot of interesting stuff. Stuff like arctic earth core samples, crime lab evidence, pandemic drugs, even motorcycles. Today we focus on Harleys. Check out what one of our fellow Spacesaver dealers installed at the Harley Davidson Museum. Storing vintage bikes? Seriously, how cool is that?
